Nov 28 2025 - The COBE Project

I recently came across the COBE project (https://cobe.vercel.app), and I was immediately hooked. Its a lightweight, beautifully smooth WebGL globe renderer that you can drop into a page with just a few lines of code. I ended up using it to build a quick interactive globe that highlights all the places Ive traveled around the world. It was fun, fast, and surprisingly easy to customize - perfect for a small personal visualization project.

What really excites me is the potential for something bigger. Id love to use COBE in the future to create a visual, interactive news app. The idea would be a 3D globe where you can click different regions and instantly see the latest news stories tied to that part of the world. A sort of geographic-powered news browser: part map, part interface, part experience.
